Quad Cities Illinois | Quick Info

The Quad Cities[1][2][3] is a group of five cities[4] straddling the Mississippi River on the Iowa–Illinois boundary, in the United States. These cities, Davenport and Bettendorf (in Iowa) and Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline (in Illinois), are the center of the Quad Cities Metropolitan Area, which, as of 2011, had a population estimate of 381,342.[5] The Quad Cities is midway between Minneapolis on the north and St. Louis on the south; Chicago on the east and Des Moines on the west. The area's 300-mile market of nearly 36.5 million people comprises around 12% of the nation's population. This makes it the largest 300-mile market west of Chicago.[6]

The name "Quad Cities" for a group of five is based on the history of the community.
